It just seems odd to be one day past Christmas and yet we are still without any accumulated amount of snow here in Shaver. We had a wild and rainy storm last night with wind knocking over even large heavy things, like our outdoors propane heater. But, by 9am this morning the sun was shining. As we look into the valley it appears that another large cloud of either rain or fog maybe headed our way.

Lakes, mountains, boating, snow skiing, water skiing, hiking--Shaver Lake has it all! We have Fourth of July fireworks on the lake, wine tasting, The Black Pot Cook-off, fabulous weather, bountiful wildlife, and so much more. I grew up in Fresno (my husband in Sanger)and now live in Shaver Lake and have for the past eight years. We only wanted a mountain retreat...but we were spending so much time here that before long I was teaching at Pine Ridge Elementary and we moved here full time. My husband still commutes to Fresno and claims it is "no problem." I have two sons, one lives in New York, and the other in Fresno. I am currently selling Real Estate(www.ValerieMortensen.com)in these mountains and loving what I do. There are many Real Estate Associates so the competition can be tough, but I would not want to sell Real Estate anywhere else. Helping clients find that special mountain getaway is very special to me.
