We can watch gliders from our deck and the view of the valley is what you see...but today that view is a mass of eery fog and clouds as the hoped for snow has not yet arrived.

Sunset over Coast Range and Fog

Sunset over Coast Range and fog

Yes, it is the the coast range and is taken from our deck in Shaver. I am very fortunate to live in Shaver and be able to see this and more each evening.
It is beginning to warm up again. Night-time temperatures are in the teens, but we are supposed to hit mid to upper forties during the day. Another storm is headed our way, but so far predictions are for temperatures more condusive to rain at the Shaver elevation.
Crab Feed this Saturday evening at Shaver. Yummmmm!

Still Snowing!

I am sure we received another six inches of snow last evening and it is still snowing...it is absolutely breathtaking up here provided you like snow and cold temperatures. I can't see the valley at all from my deck today--just a huge fog bank--but with all the beauty that is here today, who needs to see the valley!

It's All White...

We finally have more snow at Shaver. It snowed most of last evening and today, and we are expecting more snow tonight and tomorrow. Last evening highway 168 was a blur of cars slipping and sliding off a mush of soft snow blanketed over hard ice as they made their way up for the three-day weekend. Cars barely missing cars as they attempted to stay on the road. Come see the snow, but drive carefully. As the experienced mountain dwellers will tell you, the minute you feel comfortable in the snow, is the minute you are in trouble!
