The Ocean?

Fog over San Joaquin Valley
Originally uploaded by shaverlaked.

No, this spectacular view is from Wildflower Village in Shaver. From this deck one usually sees a brilliant composite of valley lights, but when the fog sets over the valley it feels as though ownership has changed from mountain to beachfront property. In the distance one can see the coastal mountain range, which inhances the awesome sunsets seen from this same property.

It seems as though winter is going to be milder this year, although we have had some winters when all the snow fell in March.
No, this photo is not a winter shot, but is a photo of Florence Lake a great place to travel to this coming summmer...Florence Lake is above Huntington and is a great Kayak trip for two. Yesterday was so sunny that my thoughts drifted a bit to a summer past.

Everyone one in Shaver Lake woke to glistening snow this morning and what a wonderful site that was. I wish everyone I knew and loved was here to enjoy this fun day in the snow.
Currently the snow has piled to near five inches in town and still falling.

Right now it is "roaring."
The sun is shining here in Shaver and it is beautiful! The 4-5 inches of snow we received a few days ago is quickly melting--but there is still plenty at the higher elevations.
Still doing that "snow dance."

See the Fox?

Shaver looks a little more like this picture today, but with the warmer temperatures expected this week I don't think it will last long. Shaver itself did get about six inches of snow...just a light coating of white...but it is still pretty.

Snow...

This snowy scene was taken at Musick Creek in the Dogwood subdivision several years ago. I am hoping that we can visually and personally capture this same scene very soon--snow in Shaver .
Although we hear the Summitt is getting snow, here in Shaver it snowed long enough to make a "powdered sugar" dusting and then rain melted it all away.
Maybe tomorrow?
