Snow Where Are You?

Was it that long ago that I felt the rain/snow would never end? The spring flowers would never begin to bloom? Today we finally have a little relief from heat. When valley temperatures rise above 105 degrees we tend to feel that warmth just a "wee" bit here in the mountains too. It is still very hot in the valley, but our temps have cooled a bit here in the mountains--finally! I guess one should not complain--no matter how warm it is in Fresno, our nights always cool to 55-60 degrees.
Just a reminder--Wine Tasting here in Shaver Lake next Saturday.

Hot Rods Everywhere!

It is not too late to head up the mountain to Shaver Lake. We have many awesome cars to look at here at the Car Show and good food to eat...and if you live in the Valley, it is definately cooler here.

Mountain Fun!

If you like cars, this is one of the many weekends you should come to Shaver Lake. The Chamber of Commerce will be hosing a car show this weekend on Saturday only. You will get to see some really "cool" cars and enjoy some really good food. There is no fee to come and enjoy the car show! It might "hit" 90 degrees this weekend, so bring you suit for a dip in the lake after the car show.

Right Here in Shaver!

For many years I have traveled to Carmel to purchase great summer outfits and swim suits made by "Fresh Produce. " The outfits are inexpensive, wear well, never fade, and are designed just for summer.
Next time you are in Shaver Lake notice the large "Fresh Produce" (we are not talking vegetables) sign outside the Shaver Hardware store. That's right, I said the "hardware" store. Upstairs in the hardware store you can not only find many wonderful "cabin" like items to buy, but you can also find "Fresh Produce" clothing. Take a look next time you are in Shaver, it is well worth your time.
Upon receiving our last "hardware" billing statement I found my husband chuckling. When I ask what was funny, he said it is so curious to find clothing on my "hardware" bill!

Small Town History

If you like to know what is going on in the mountains, or what has now become history, the Mountain Press is "The Voice of the Mountains." It is our small local newspaper which contains history and news from Auberry, Prather and Shaver Lake too. You can get the newspaper delivered to your home for $10 a year--that is what I said, $10 a year. A small community price and what a steal of a deal.
